Lake Sylvester is a small glacial lake within the Kahurangi National Park.  It is surrounded by a number of other small glacial lakes.

The lake is accessed by a walking track that leaves from a carpark close to the Cobb Dam.  The walk is relatively easy and climbs roughly 500 metres from the Cobb Dam (819 m) to Lake Sylvester (1325 m).  Close to lake is a DOC hut, which is a 5 km walk from the carpark.

The lake is a beautiful place to visit and from it offers very good views back over the Kahurangi National Park towards Mount Arthur.

From Lake Sylvester it is a short walk up to Iron Lake which sits at 1460 metres.

The 360-panoramic tour shows Lake Sylvester along with Iron Lake and the surrounding area.
